Nektarios
Garantzotis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1974. He is a composer and classical
guitar player.
He
has performed music from the classical repertoire and he arranged world music
and Greek music for classical guitar, which he performed as a soloist and in
duets in cultural centers, concert halls and universities (The National and
Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,
the University of Thessaly, the City of Athens Cultural Center etc.).
In
2009, he founded the "Modern Music School of Alimos" in Athens,
Greece, where he was the artistic director, the director of studies and a
teacher of classical guitar, advanced music theory and composition until 2015.
Since
2015, he has been devoted to composing and performing of music based on the saved
Ancient Greek melodies and the harmony and the rhythms of Ancient Greece.
Combining the information about Ancient Greek music from scientists and the
philosophical thought of Ancient Greece and transfering to the music the art
conclusions which result from observing Ancient Greek sculptures and monuments,
he approaches the aesthetics of the music of Ancient Greece.
He
has performed Ancient Greek music as a soloist and in duets in concert halls and
museums, such as at the "National Archaeological Museum of Athens", at the "Numismatic Museum of Athens" at the event "Olympic Flame 2016" and at the event "Archeology and Fire", at the "International Cultural Center Athenaeum" etc. He also performed Ancient Greek music as a soloist at the "Musee Adolf Michaelis" in Strasbourg (Palais Universitaire de Strasbourg, France) and at the German-Greek society Saar in Saarbrücken (Germany).
